Real questions, answers that lower anxiety

Before entrusting your most sensitive documents to someone, it is normal to be on alert. Here you will find answers to common objections, without useless technical jargon.

What if I lose my password?

The password is the key that protects your vault. If you lose it permanently, no one (not even LifeVault) can recover your data, because it is stored in encrypted form. That is why we recommend using a password manager and, if you want, noting down a secure offline copy.

Can LifeVault see my data?

No. The content you save is stored as ciphertext: the backend only sees encrypted data, not cleartext documents. This minimizes the attack surface and ensures that, even in case of unauthorized access to the database, your data remains unreadable.

What if I close my account?

You can stop using LifeVault at any time. The data remains encrypted and is not used for other purposes. We are designing clear flows for account closure and data management, with the goal of allowing you to always maintain control over what remains in our systems.

Is it legal?

Yes: using an encrypted vault to archive your personal documents is perfectly legal. You remain the owner of the data and decide what to upload, what to delete, and who to share it with. LifeVault does not offer legal advice: you should always use the service in compliance with the laws applicable to your specific case.

What happens if LifeVault disappears?

The LifeVault model starts from an assumption: your data must have value even outside the service. We are working on export mechanisms and clear policies for the case of closure: in such a scenario, the priority is to give you time and tools to recover what you have archived. In any case, the data in our systems remains encrypted and is not reused for other purposes.
